Only two months after recording the longest line in African street wear history the team at RHTC/LPO just don’t know when to stop. You’d think that selling out every single item in the store, The Mayor’s Office on Touch HD, the Unique Iconz showcasing their S|S 2018 collection at Fashion week and the UNITI Exhibition at the store that this would be good enough for them. Never have I been so wrong.
This past Freedom Weekend had to be their Wrestlemania as the family welcomed us to their second Let’s Play Outside Festival at Constitution Hill. If you didn’t attend the first one then this weekend was a great opportunity for you to make up for missing it and you would have also rubbed shoulders with the crème de la crème of the Street culture Johannesburg. The event was packed back-to-back with live dj sets and performances by Una Rams,Jäigermeister Brass Cartel Stiff Pap and a surprise performance by Mashayabhuqe KaMambaStiff.
The festival wasn’t only about the music but it also gave those in attendance the opportunity to buy from local street wear brands like SGOD, Transcend, Ubucwebe and Sho Ngwana. This year saw the festivals first art exhibition hosted by young, talented and exuberant African artists.
Even though this years festival was hosted at a larger location than the last one, you would still have felt the same love and togetherness you would have felt at the first. They are very few events where right after the artist on stage finishes their set do they become part of the very crowd that cheered for their music.
We really have tilt our hats off to the Let’s Play Outside team. They are a really talented bunch who really love local street culture. Long Live LPO!
